    Lots of you send me your Task 2 questions, so I’ve decided to record them all on one page.

    Of course, the same questions will not come up again, but it will give you a good idea about what types of questions to expect and also allow you to practice.

    October 2015

    Most employers do job interviews before offering a position to a person. Do you think this is the best way to do it, or are there better alternatives? What is the best method of choosing employees in your opinion?

    Some people think that computer games are bad for children, while others believe that they are useful. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of computer games and give your own opinion.

    Many people believe that cooking is an essential life skill and should be taught to boys and girls in schools. Others disagree and believe it is a waste of school time. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

    Nowadays employers tend to think social skills are more important than good qualifications.  Do you agree or disagree?

    In some countries old people are highly respected and in other countries young people are considered to be more valuable.Discuss both views and give your opinion.

    Some say that universities should focus on knowledge enhancement rather than developing one’s skills. Do you agree or disagree?

    In many countries shops and goods are all the same. Some people believe it to be positive development, while others think it is negative. Discuss both points of view and give your opinion.

    In some secondary schools, students are provided with a general education across a range of subjects. In others, however, they focus on fewer subjects related to a particular career. Which do you think is appropriate in today’s world?

    There is not enough recycling of waste materials (e.g. paper, glass, cans). What are the reasons for this problem and what are some possible solutions?

    In some countries, shops manufacture and sell their own products. Some people believe that this is a positive development while others see this as negative. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

    There are many animal species close to extinction. Some say that only animals that are beneficial to people should be protected. Do you agree or disagree?

    Some people believe that zoos where animals are kept in a man-made environment should no longer exist in the 21st century. Do you agree or disagree?

    Some people believe that governments shouldn’t provide aid to other countries if they have poor and disadvantaged people within their own country. Do you agree or disagree?

    Some teachers think that international student exchange would be beneficial for all teenage school students. Do you think its advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

    Some people think that school uniforms are unnecessary and should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

    Criminals should be allowed the get an education while they serve their sentence. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

    Some people believe that free housing should be provided by the government for the under-privileged and people who can’t afford to buy a house. To what extent do you agree and disagree?
